Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian cricket team, commended Shivam Dube and Yashasvi Jaiswal for their outstanding performances in the second T20I against Afghanistan, which led to a decisive six-wicket victory for India. Jaiswal's aggressive innings of 68 runs off 34 balls, marked by six sixes, laid the foundation for India's successful chase. Dube, contributing an unbeaten 63 from 32 deliveries with four sixes, played a crucial role in maintaining India's control over the Afghan bowling attack.
The partnership between Dube and Jaiswal played a crucial role in India establishing an insurmountable 2-0 lead in the series, highlighting their skill in dismantling the opposition's bowling and guiding their team to a decisive victory. During the post-match presentation, Rohit Sharma praised both players and discussed their performances over the preceding years.
"They've had a great couple of years, Jaiswal has played Test cricket now and even T20I. He has shown what he is capable of. He has the talent and has a great range of shots. Dube is a big guy, very powerful and can take on the spinners. That is his role and he has come out and played two crucial innings for us", said Rohit. While Rohit failed once again with the bat, he attained a world record on the day as he became the first men's player to make 150 appearances in T20Is. The Indian skipper said it was a great feeling for him and he had cherished the journey. "It is a great feeling, it has been a long journey starting way back in 2007. I've cherished every moment I have spent here", said Rohit.
Rohit Sharma additionally mentioned that the team has adhered to their intended style of play, expressing pride in the team's performance in Indore. "We have been clear with what we wanted to do, a very clear message to everyone and when you see a performance like that, you can be really proud. One thing is talking about it, but to actually go there and play that way is a proud feeling. The last two games, we've ticked a lot of boxes", said Rohit
